BLOOMING IN JUNE
Coterie & Cotillion

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What grades can apply?

A1. Blooming in June (BIJ) is open to high school juniors and seniors. We are looking for young ladies who are ready for a structured, uplifting experience focused on leadership, service, and personal development. If you’re unsure whether your student is a good fit, we encourage you to submit an interest form—our team is happy to advise.

Q2. When does the program run?

A2. Recruitment typically takes place each year from August to October. The official BIJ program begins in January and concludes with our culminating Debutante Coterie/Cotillion experience in June. Key-known dates (interest meetings, application deadlines, rehearsals, and major events) are shared with accepted participants and families early in the season so you can plan ahead.

Q3. What is the time commitment?

A3. Over the years, BIJ has been shortened based on participant and family feedback to be more manageable while still delivering a meaningful experience. The current program duration is approximately 20 weeks, but it is important to note that the calendar includes workshops, weekend experiences, and dance rehearsals leading up to the Debutante Coterie.

To remain in good standing, participants are expected to attend at least 85% of scheduled program activities. Consistent participation is essential because BIJ is a group-based experience—each Tea Rose’s involvement supports the full coterie.

Q4. What does the fee include?

A4. The program fee covers the core programmatic elements that make BIJ such a unique experience. This includes leadership development workshops, program resources and materials, planning and execution of scheduled sessions, and other program-related experiences that support each participant’s growth throughout the season. Additional details—including what is included and any optional or separate
costs—are shared with families during onboarding.

Q5. Are scholarships available?

A5. Yes—scholarships connected to the Debutante Coterie/Cotillion may be awarded based on established program rubrics (such as participation, performance, leadership, and other criteria communicated during the program year).

At this time, there are no scholarships available to offset program fees, so families
should plan accordingly. However, we are actively working to grow BIJ sponsorship support so we might be able to expand scholarship opportunities in the near future.

Q6. What fundraising is required?

A6. Each participant is responsible for raising funds as part of the BIJ experience. Fundraising supports program delivery, community service initiatives, and scholarship opportunities tied to the Debutante Coterie/Cotillion. Families will receive guidance, timelines, and approved fundraising expectations to help meet the requirement with clear, achievable steps.

Q7. What kinds of workshops are included?

A7. BIJ workshops are designed to be relevant, empowering, and practical—supporting each participant’s confidence and readiness for life beyond high school. Topics may include:

  • Etiquette & Social Graces

  • “The Brand You” (personal image, presence, and confidence)

  • Self-Care & Wellness

  • Women’s Health

  • Beauty & Presentation

  • Resume Writing

  • Public Speaking

Additional enrichment experiences may be added each year based on speaker availability and program goals.

Q8. How do parents participate and support?

A8. Parent/guardian involvement is an important part of BIJ. Families support their participant by:

  • Helping them stay on schedule and preparing for workshops and events

  • Supporting fundraising efforts and meeting program deadlines

  • Encouraging participation, professionalism, and personal growth

  • Assisting as needed with key moments—including involvement in Cotillion dance routines, when applicable

We view BIJ as a partnership: when families are engaged, participants thrive.

Q9. When are Cotillion tickets available?

A9. The Cotillion takes place annually in June, and tickets are typically available for purchase beginning in April. Ticketing details—including pricing, purchasing links, deadlines, and any sponsorship opportunities—are shared with BIJ families and posted publicly as soon as sales open.
